Question
I am curious if you know whether it is advisable to take any colon cleansing products. I am a 34 year old healthy male.
I've read that oxy-powder or oxygen cleasing solutions are the best for colon cleansing.
thanks
Mike

Answer
Hi - if you have IBS then no, it is not advisable to take any kind of colon cleanser. It's likely to make you much worse, not better. If you have IBS, then by definition your gut is hyper-reactive, and the brain-gut interaction in your body is dysfunctional, with the result that you can interpret even normal gut sensations as painful. Any kind of ';cleanse';, which is usually just code for ';harsh stimulant laxative'; is likely to cause severe cramps, pain, and worsen IBS symptoms.
Just fyi, no one - whether they have IBS or not - needs to cleanse their colon. A healthy diet that has plenty of both soluble and insoluble fiber, lots of water, exercise, and a minimal amount of saturated animal fats/proteins will keep your colon functioning properly.

If you have IBS, you need to be kind and gentle to your gut. A cleanse will likely hurt you, not help.
Best,
HeatherHas anyone with Inflammatory Bowel Disease ever tried colon cleansing? What kind of results did you see?
People who have tried this reported no difference.
